1999 Mercedes R129 SL500, Car Photoshoot Sydney

Australian delivered R129 SL500 in silver, shot at sunset with the rare 18inch AMG monoblocks wheels.

I shot this silver 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 R129 late one afternoon on a rooftop car park in Alexandria. Open sky, no clutter, just the low sun running across the silver paint and the AMG monoblock wheels. The R129 has a shape that does not need help. It needs light and space, and a rooftop at golden hour gives you both.

For a car at this level, a few exterior shots alone will not sell it. A serious R129 buyer wants to read the car. So the set covers it the way they actually look: front and rear three quarter angles, the side profile, the roof line down, then in close on the wheels, the badges, the interior and the bits of service history that tell you someone cared. The difference between a kept car and an average one lives in those details, and that is what the photos are there to show.

This one has had plenty of work done. The roof seals, some suspension work and a fair few other bits and pieces, all with the service history to back it. That history matters more on an R129 than almost any spec line.

The wheels do a lot of the work. Genuine 18 inch AMG Monoblock Style I wheels, the R129 specific set (front part number A1294011702, rear A1294011802), made by Ronal for Mercedes in Belgium. If you know these cars you know how rarely the right set turns up in Australia, and you know what they are worth on their own.
It is listed on Carsales now. R129 SL500 prices have been climbing as more people clock this era of Mercedes, and a clean Australian delivered car with the right history and the right wheels does not sit around.
